Real Estate Specialist 1 (Trainee 1- Trainee 2) NYHELPS
The NYS Department of Transportation is seeking a Real Estate Specialist 1 to work in a Regional Real Estate office. The role involves determining property values for public use, managing properties, negotiating financial settlements, and preparing various reports, requiring considerable travel and fieldwork within New York City and occasionally to other parts of New York State.

Responsibilities
Determining the values of property to be appropriated for public use
Management of such property and negotiation of a financial settlement with the owners of the property
Preparing reports of physical inspection
Writing appraisals
Negotiating claims
Helping to relocate residences, businesses, sign control and other related work
Serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher
One year of professional real estate experience appraising real property including writing detailed original appraisal reports or appraisal reviews in connection with sales, leasing, financing of real property with banks, lending institutions, mortgage organizations, or other financial organizations
One year of professional experience appraising real property including writing detailed original appraisal reports or appraisal reviews in connection with land acquisition for public land acquisition agencies, utility companies, or Not for Profit conservation organizations
Possession of valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or ability to meet the travel requirements of the position
Six years of professional real estate experience related to real property appraisal, title searching, survey work determining property lines, negotiation of leases, and the sale of real property (for Non-PCO list applicants)
One year of specialized experience of appraising real property (for Non-PCO list applicants)
A New York State General Real Estate Appraisal License or a New York State Land Surveyor Licensure (for Non-PCO list applicants)
Educational credentials must be awarded by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
