8+ years expIDEXX Livestock Diagnostics is seeking a versatile and business-minded attorney to join their in-house legal team. The Commercial Counsel will support a broad range of critical commercial legal initiatives, including engaging with the global supply chain organization and advising on privacy and data security matters.

Responsibilities
Provide primary support to the global supply chain organization, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating vendor agreements
Working with legal and other colleagues to refine contracting processes, templates, and playbooks to drive efficiency and consistency in vendor management strategy
Advise on privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with applicable global privacy laws, internal policies, and contractual data protection obligations, and reviewing and negotiating data protection and data processing agreements
Partner with compliance, security, IT, and business and product teams to assess privacy risks and support initiatives involving personal data
Support customer contracting efforts, including drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with IDEXX’s large corporate customers
Qualification
Required
J.D. or equivalent, with top academic credentials
Bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Substantial experience (8+ years) at a law firm or in-house (both preferred) in substantive areas of commercial vendor and customer contracts; extensive privacy law experience; expertise working directly with internal business teams, and negotiating with vendors and customers is critical
2+ years experience at a regional or national law firm is highly valued
Experience in a highly-matrixed, multinational, public company environment is highly valued
Demonstrated excellent core legal skills, centered on general commercial contract structuring, drafting and negotiation experience
Deep experience in privacy matters in a commercial context
Ability to grapple successfully with complexity and to translate complex legal issues into practical guidance for business stakeholders and legal colleagues
Demonstrated ability both to collaborate effectively in a team environment, and to build strong collaborative connections and relationships with clients and colleagues across a global organization
Ability to build credibility quickly with stakeholders, and to provide practical legal expertise in challenging and complex business situations
Ability to confidently apply legal and business judgment in novel, fast-moving situations of significant value and impact

Comfort in use of legal operations tools including contract lifecycle management, workflow, e-billing/matter management platforms, and emerging AI tools
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
