Manager of Inventory and Planning

Responsibilities
Establish and maintain enterprise inventory planning principles and targets, including COGS % of sales, weeks of supply (WOS), inventory turns, safety stock, and service level expectations; align to best practices and relevant benchmarks
Build inventory budget frameworks that reflect the breadth and complexity of SKUs across General Practice, Specialty, and Equine settings
Define inventory investment requirements for hospitals, new service lines, expansions, including start-up/onboarding inventory set-up budgets
Own monthly forecasting for inventory and COGS at the category and sub-category level, with visibility and reporting at hospital, regional, and enterprise
Develop and maintain multi-year trend analyses to support annual planning, growth initiatives, and long-range forecasts
Analyze forecast variances and identify root causes (e.g., demand shifts, ordering behavior, promotions/pricing changes, supply disruptions, data issues)
Leverage advanced methods and AI/ML-based forecasting approaches to improve forecast accuracy, reduce bias, and anticipate shifts in patient demand
Partner with Procurement on the impact of annual cost changes, discounts, rebates, and vendor programs to inform buying strategies and inventory investment decisions
Partner with Hospital Leaders and Operations to forecast, measure, and enforce inventory buying budgets at the hospital level by category/sub-class—monitoring, escalating, and recommending actions as trends shift
Partner with Pricing and FP&A for business reviews to clearly communicate drivers, misses, risks/opportunities, and recommended actions
Partner with IT/Data teams to improve forecasting tools, dashboards, PIMS integration, master data quality, and governance across clinical and inventory systems
Define, track, and report planning KPIs, including forecast accuracy, forecast bias, in-stock/service levels, inventory turns, days/weeks of supply, and related working capital metrics
Conduct targeted performance analysis (e.g., top/bottom performing hospitals) to identify best practices, standardize improvements, and drive inventory productivity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Analytics/Decision Science, Economics, or a related field
5+ years in demand planning, forecasting, or inventory planning —preferably in healthcare, veterinary, pharmaceutical, or medical supplies
Experience supporting a multi-site service/care delivery network
Experience in financial modeling, COGS forecasting, and variance/root-cause analysis
Experience with planning/forecasting platforms such as OneStream, Alteryx, Oracle, Anaplan, Blue Yonder, Kinaxis, NetSuite Demand Planning, or similar tools
Advanced Excel and data modeling skills
Power BI or Tableau preferred
Familiarity with PIMS systems and integrating clinical/service data into planning processes
Comfortable reporting and reconciling insights across complex, multi-system environments
Analytical with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear financial and operational actions
High standards for data integrity, governance, and process discipline
Strong communicator and influencer across stakeholders
