Community Development – Aboriginal Specialist

Bayside Council is committed to serving its community through a positive and supportive workplace culture. The role of Community Development – Aboriginal Specialist involves coordinating the Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan and developing partnerships with the local Aboriginal community to enhance program and service planning.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Coordination of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, including reporting on achievements and progress
Support Council’s RAP Working Group and other key stakeholders to plan and deliver Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, and other significant programs that increase awareness and appreciation for Aboriginal culture and cultural heritage
Support and advocate on community issues
Work with Aboriginal organisations and local groups to develop and implement meaningful and responsive community development activities
Research and prepare grant applications for funding initiatives relevant to the Aboriginal community
Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour
Work in collaboration with the Community Support and Programs team, Coordinator, Manager and other internal stakeholders to achieve the business unit goals, work requests, and Council priorities

Required

Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Aboriginality (people of Aboriginal descent as per Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977)
Current Driver's Licence Class C
