Responsibilities
Oversee the full-cycle accounting for multiple construction projects, including job setup, budgeting, billing, and closeout
Prepare and review monthly forecast worksheets, WIP (Work-In-Progress) schedules, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and forecasting
Lead the monthly forecasting process for project revenue, costs, and margins in collaboration with project managers
Collaborate with project teams to monitor budgets, cost-to-complete, and margin analysis
Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable and assist with resolving billing disputes
Serves as financial liaison between the finance team and the project teams
Review and process AIA billings, change orders, subcontractor pay applications, and direct costs
Ensure accurate recording and classification of project-related costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
Monitor contract compliance including lien waivers, insurance, certified payroll, and retention
Reconcile job costs, identify variances, and investigate discrepancies
Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations related to job cost and revenue, and other financial areas as assigned
Assist with audit requests, lender reporting, and bonding requirements
Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies
Assist in system upgrades, ERP integrations, and report automation as needed
Qualification
Required
4+ years of construction accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a project accounting role
Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, and forecasting
Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE/Timberline, Foundation, Oracle, or equivalent)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis
Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication skills
Self-starter, ability to work independently and manage multiple project and deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA or CMA a plus)
Preferred
Familiarity with union labor reporting and prevailing wage projects
