Human Resources Generalist

Responsibilities

Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, C.P.R aptitude exams, and certifications
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and staff members relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex and sensitive matters/questions to appropriate senior-level H.R. staff or management
Will assist in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
Assist in managing workers’ compensation injury claims. File reports with insurance provider, maintain accident information, and monitor progress
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews company policies and practices to maintain compliance
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization
Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process
Assists with job posting and advertisement processes
Screens applications and selects qualified candidates
Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials
Collaborates with the other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending incentives, start dates, and other relevant details
Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions
Assist with drafting detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
Organizes and attends job fairs, campus events, and other networking opportunities
Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
Performs periodic audits of H.R. files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
Provides clerical support to the H.R. department
May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks
Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers
Conducts or assists with new hire training
Conduct Data entry into the HRIS
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations
Cultivates positive relationships with staff
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Must be 18 years of age with High School diploma or G.E.D. required with some college experience or a combination of knowledge and experience
Minimum of one (3) years' experience working directly in the Human Resources/Recruitment field is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet research, social media navigation
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications

Preferred

Prior related office experience
C.P.R. and First Aid Certifications
