Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead

Farnsworth Group is a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm, and they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead for HVAC/Building Systems. In this role, you will manage multiple projects related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty piping system engineering and design for various facilities, while also mentoring junior engineers and engaging in business development activities.

Design

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate HVAC, plumbing, and specialty piping system construction drawings, including specifications
Perform construction administration, including submittal reviews and project revisions during construction
Prepare preliminary schematics through final designs for projects, including calculations, equipment selection, and layouts
Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application
Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, leading projects to successful completion
Manage projects, provide leadership, mentoring, and coordination of the production staff
Assist in maintaining project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality results
Perform quality control reviews of HVAC and plumbing design work done by others
Assist in business development activities, including writing fee proposals and conducting project scoping walks with potential clients

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
12+ years of professional experience in HVAC and plumbing design for buildings
Experience managing one or more client projects of various sizes
A Professional Engineering License (PE) is required
Design experience relative to medium/large commercial and institutional facilities
Strong familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar
Ability to be a strong and communicative team player in a multi-disciplinary environment, able to lead projects from start to finish
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience writing and editing specifications
Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously
