Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities

Perform activities during installation, upgrade, testing, warranty, and repair of equipment, following up all customer’s and Veeco’s protocols related to safety and security
Isolate and resolve equipment and systems malfunctions and take corrective action
Assist with the implementation of new processes, methods, and designs
Develop relationships with the customer to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention
Ability to drive onsite activities, communications, and provide support in all matters related to the equipment, technical, and field aspects for the targeted site
Report all tool actions/events and daily activities in field service reports such as the Veeco Service Portal (VSP) and follow up on reports as needed
Adhere to safety and confidentiality policies and travel/expense policies
Constant communication everyday with teammates and Field Service Manager via MS (outlook, Teams, etc.)
Travel TBD but more extensive during initial 6-month training period, possibly including international for training. But then it will taper down to 50% or less
Accept training and mentor guidance from the on-site Senior FSE’s, and/your manager

Required

U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to have unescorted access under this program/contract
Associates degree in a Science or technology-related field and/or military with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Preferred

Knowledge of vacuum, chemistry, electronics, microchip processing, gas delivery systems, robotics, mechanics, or combination with similar semiconductor process equipment such as MOCVD, AMAT, NOVELLUS, AIXTRON, EBARA, LAM, etc. is preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products is a big plus – word, excel, outlook, power point, teams, one note, edge, copilot, etc
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, piping and installation diagrams (PID's)
Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical concepts – ohms law, component identification (heaters, breakers, relays, contactors, solenoids, valves, flow controllers, etc.)
Basic understanding of theory – how gas flow, pressure, temperature interact and are controlled via pneumatics, robotics, and PLC networks to create the right process environment for chip production
Must possess a positive attitude and excellent communication skills with the ability to speak with clarity and interface effectively with customer, management, and peers
Knowledge of machine vision systems, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, robotics, and computer programming
System integration, test, and debug skills
Displays broad-based customer focus and commitment to resolve problems and make decisions based on the priority of the problem in relation to business needs
Ability to build excellent customer relationships
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure to meet support deadlines in a multi-tasking environment
Must be flexible for emergency call-in work
Ability to travel with as little as 1 week of notice – although this is not typical
Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner daily and accept and understand multiple requests from customers in a high stress and fast paced manufacturing environment is a must
