Technical Instructional Designer (contract)

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain interactive e-learning courses using authoring tools, incorporating videos, quizzes, simulations, and microlearning elements
Conduct needs assessments, learner analyses, context analyses, and task analyses to inform instructional strategies
Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical content and translate complex information into accessible learning materials
Create supporting training materials including slides, handouts, lab instructions, and lab solutions
Update and refresh existing coursework to ensure content remains current and aligned with business objectives
Develop learning solutions that meet instructional design standards, accessibility guidelines, and deliver measurable outcomes
Partner with curriculum managers and cross-functional teams to align training content with organizational goals
Incorporate innovative tools and methodologies such as generative AI and workflow-based training into learning solutions
Monitor learner engagement metrics including completion rates, assessment scores, and feedback to continuously improve content
Research emerging technologies and external training resources to enhance program offerings
Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of overall work-related experience in instructional design or related field
Portfolio or work samples demonstrating training development across various fields, including new technology and process enhancements, required for consideration
Demonstrated experience working closely with subject matter experts to develop and influence training programs
Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams and external technical trainers
Experience researching technology-related information and incorporating findings into training solution
Extensive experience in technical communications, including writing and editing for diverse audiences
Proven ability to develop learning-centered, performance-based programs for different environments
Strong expertise in creating e-learning solutions with multimedia and interactive elements
Experience working with video production and video editing
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Deep understanding of branching logic and demo simulations within e-learning platforms
Strong troubleshooting abilities for technology-related issues
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong customer service orientation and stakeholder management capabilities
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in instructional design or related field preferred
Master's degree or formal education in instructional design preferred
Experience creating content with AI learning solutions and 3D modeling preferred
Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and accessibility standards
