Program Director 2 - Student Advising & Processing (Internal Only)

The University of Houston is seeking a Program Director for their Scholarships & Financial Aid department. This role is responsible for overseeing the operations of a large program, managing staff and budgets, and ensuring strategic goals are met through effective leadership and program implementation.

Responsibilities

Oversees a large department, program or center
Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met
Hires and directs the activities of staff
Resolves personnel issues as they arise
Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development
Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center
Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed
Represents department or center to internal and external constituents
Performs other job-related duties as required
Oversee SFA staff in advising specific student populations
Oversee student processing and financial aid appeals/ requests
Coordinate student cases with One-Stop office
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Required

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline
Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed
Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience
Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience
Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education

Preferred

Higher Education experience
Service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, and responsiveness
Must be a multi-tasker, extremely organized, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures
Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external constituents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
NASFAA Certified Financial Aid Administrator
NASFAA Credentials
