Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Scientist for their Spatial Omics Lab within the Pathology Department for a contract assignment with a premier Pharmaceutical client in South San Francisco, CA. The role involves planning, executing, and reporting on complex spatial proteomics and transcriptomics experiments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to generate high-quality data from pathological tissue samples.

Responsibilities

Independently design, plan, conduct, and interpret spatial omics studies with minimal supervision
Execute complex experiments utilizing cutting-edge spatial technologies, including Xenium, Visium, and COMET
Interprets experimental data and, as a result, modifies experimental design appropriately with minimal guidance from investigators, pathologists, or lab management
Present progress and results at internal and external team meetings
Collaborate effectively in a highly multidisciplinary environment; Ensure tight collaboration with partnering labs to maintain seamless end-to-end workflows
Maintains scientific records, evaluates experimental data, draws conclusions, and coordinates his/her laboratory work with the objectives of the team
Adheres to SO lab WKDs and study timelines, reporting to the lab manager
Independently researches internal and external sources to guide study design and experimental layout
Execution of established image and data management processes like image alignment, image conversion, etc

Required

BA or BS with 0-5 years of experience in a relevant scientific field
Hands-on experience with spatial omics platforms, including 10x Genomics Xenium, 10x Genomics Visium, and/or COMET technology
Experience with scanning of fluorescent and histological slides
Quantitative image analysis and image processing, preferably with experience in machine learning, is a plus
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work successfully in teams, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a proactive, problem-solving, and independent attitude
