Responsibilities
Supervises, delegates and provide guidance to staff in one or more areas of responsibility related to performing highly complex tasks related to receiving, filing and processing documents, fees and fines, maintaining records, files and reports, and providing excellent customer service to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures
Ensures effective delivery of services by training staff, coordinating, delegating and monitoring the workflow to ensure accuracy, compliance and timeliness, providing feedback and collecting data for performance measures
Acts as technical expert, researching and resolving problems and highly complex issues related to the program function, and responds to inquiries from staff, Judges, attorneys, other County departments and the general public, referring frequently to applicable laws, regulations and policies
Researches and stays abreast of changes in applicable laws, participates in developing and implementing goals, objectives and standard operating policies and procedures, and monitors compliance
Hires and trains staff, evaluates performance and initiates disciplinary action
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or in a job related field of study
Skilled in the use of standard software applications
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public
Knowledge of applicable rules and laws pertaining to assigned section(s)
Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment
Must be physically able to perform 'handling with care techniques, including takedowns, chasing and restraining youth' as outlined in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) requirement
Must be at least 21 years of age (for applicable positions) and must pass all portions (physical/written) of the Juvenile Academy to continue employment or all standards related to PREA and Ethics for specific positions
