Unit Secretary
St. Joseph Medical Center is seeking a Unit Secretary to provide indirect patient care and manage departmental communications. The role involves organizing records, transcribing physician orders, and supporting the Perinatal Unit by coordinating with staff and ensuring accurate documentation.

Responsibilities
Provide indirect patient care by assisting with departmental organization, communication needs, and coordination between staff, physicians, and patients
Enter and transcribe physician orders (in the absence of CPOE) with proper nursing notation and signature
Prepare, compile, and maintain patient records, charts, logbook entries, and documentation for the Perinatal Unit
Order supplies and forms for the unit, and assist nursing staff with restocking patient rooms after transfers or discharges
Accurately enter data into hospital computer systems and the QS Electronic Medical Record system while supporting nursing staff with indirect care tasks
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014
Current BLS (AHA) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current
Experience using computers for word processing, database management
Preferred
Medical terminology preferred
Experience using computers for word processing, database management preferred
