Senior Staff Accountant
Roos Advisors is a growing accounting firm based in the Greater Philadelphia area, providing outsourced bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation, and fractional CFO services to small and mid-sized businesses across the U.S. The Senior Staff Accountant will manage client engagements, handle complex accounting and tax work, and serve as a trusted advisor while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with firm leadership.

Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting and month-end close for multiple client accounts
Prepare and review reconciliations, journal entries, and adjusting entries
Produce and analyze financial statements, KPIs, and management reports
Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
Lead year-end close, cleanup projects, and audit support
Resolve complex accounting issues in accordance with GAAP
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065)
Support tax planning, projections, and quarterly estimates
Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, 1099s, and related filings
Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready workpapers
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients
Communicate proactively with clients regarding deadlines, issues, and insights
Review and explain financials in clear, business-focused language
Review work prepared by Staff Accountants and provide guidance
Assist with onboarding and mentoring junior team members
Help document, standardize, and improve accounting and tax workflows
Collaborate with leadership on special projects and firm initiatives
Stay current on accounting standards and tax law changes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
4–6+ years of accounting experience (public accounting strongly preferred)
Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting
Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065)
Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency (QBO ProAdvisor a plus)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and small business accounting
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting
Experience with CCH Axcess, TaxDome, and Fathom
CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
