Responsibilities

Oversees and coordinates the movement of materials and supplies
Monitors the daily operational needs and functions of the Materials Management Branch warehouse and inventory
Must organize, coordinate, administer and control materials and goods for the customers from CDPS, CSP field, Headquarters, Academy and support staff
Accurately processes orders for daily distribution and relay
Functions as an individual contributor and provides guidance for and is an approving authority for the Material Handler II
Explains in-house requirements, policies and procedures to our customers when needed
Assist and educate customers to ensure smooth transactions without errors
Keeps extensive records of vendor quotes, relay log, CSP issuance of citations, stock returns and inventory adjustments
Stores supplies by moving to the proper location using pallet jack, fork lift, hand truck or hand stacking
Accurately files all transactions, packing slips, quotes, invoices and purchase orders need to be matched prior to submitting for payment
Independently organizes, coordinates, and administers warehouse inventory and processes for CDPS, CSP field customers, Headquarters, Academy and Staff Support
Performs warehouse and inventory adjustments with accurate descriptions and justifications
Helps coordinate and conducts monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory to verify proper inventory status
Accesses the Colorado Operations Resource Engine (CORE) to maintain inventory and record all inventory transactions
Follows Logistics Services Section and Materials Management Branch ideals and processes to ensure accountability and transparency
References central drive records, data and Info Advantage reports for guidance
Makes recommendations for process and procedure improvement, inventory level adjustments and other warehousing issues
Explains work processes and trains others
Serves as a resource or guide by advising others on how to process within a system or as a contributing problem-solving team
Provides guidance, problem solving techniques and solutions for inventoried goods
Monitors and surveys the needs of the customers to determine new inventory or warehouse needs, replacement of obsolete inventory
Works directly with vendors to obtain products and solve problems
Recommends changes to inventory stock items and inventory levels when determined to be a benefit to the State and/or Department
Researches alternative source selection and recommends source selections that would increase product availability and reduce costs
Assists in the coordination and dissemination of information to advise internal customers and vendors to ensure policies and proper procedural requirements are met
Researches and confers with vendors, suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate product performance, inventory, product lead time and quality control issues
Assist customers and vendors by providing timely, accurate and objective feedback on both inventoried and custom ordered products
Works independently and maintains professional relationships with vendors to ensure best pricing and customer service for CDPS
Implements quality control, discrepancy reporting and vendor performance programs to identify differences in materials received with purchase descriptions and delinquent vendor’s deliveries causing out of stock conditions
Identifies low levels of inventoried materials and makes recommendations for replenishment
Confirms that requested quantities of inventory replacement are realistic, pricing is current and fair and drafts and submits all inventory related purchase orders in CORE for approval by the Materials Management Branch Chief
Uses appropriate forms and procurement guidance when requesting replenishment of inventory
Where applicable, confirms that State price agreements, documented quotes and special contracts are utilized to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies
Places custom orders for customers throughout CDPS when needed
Ensures purchase order compliance and sound fiscal management and control
Works under the terms of the CDPS purchasing sub-delegation for warehouse purchasing
Responsible for a wide variety of miscellaneous duties including but not limited to coordination of product distribution, mail, commercial shipping and relay
Participates in fitting of uniforms and ballistic body armor for CSP Academy members and other uniformed officers
Assists in the disposal of used uniform items that are no longer usable from the field customers
Arranges for proper disposal of ballistic body armor, helmets and other sensitive equipment
Stores supplies by moving to the proper location using pallet jack, fork lift, hand truck or hand stacking
Active in maintaining warehouse, clothing room, storage buildings and materials handling equipment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
Represents the LSS Materials Management Branch, when appropriate, at informational meetings
Recommends and assists with developing specifications on types of equipment to purchase for the customers of the Materials Management branch
Follow all policies, obtains training and certification in all areas as required by the State of Colorado and CDPS
Participates in the fitting and distribution of uniforms, accessories and ballistic armor for CSP Cadets and other uniformed members
In the absence of the Branch Chief, provides decisions for things such as relay, material handler workload distribution and is a source of information for other staff and customers

Required

Three (3) years of demonstrated experience inventory, shipping, receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be Colorado resident at the time of application
Must have a valid Colorado Drivers License
Must be forklift certified or the ability to gain and maintain a forklift operating certification (at state cost) within 90 days of employment
Adherence to established material handling and back safety protocols is paramount during all material movement tasks
Must have comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols for lifting, carrying, and storing heavy or hazardous materials, such as boxes up to 50 lbs., tires, ammunition, and OC spray canisters
Position requires an applicant/employee who can meet and maintain the criteria of Physical Demand on a daily basis which includes lifting from ground level up to 50 lbs. of force/weight occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force/weight frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force/weight constantly to move objects throughout a full range of motion

Preferred

Sufficient work related experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (experience with fire, military or law enforcement equipment, uniforms, PPE and medical supplies)
Experience with asset management, inventory management or warehouse management
Proficient computer skills using programs such as Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel, Google platform and asset management software
Forklift Certified
