Vision Zero Intern - Program Support

NEOGOV is seeking a motivated and organized self-starter for the Vision Zero Intern position. This role involves supporting the Vision Zero Coordinator in efforts to eliminate serious injuries and deaths on Chapel Hill roadways, with exposure to local government transportation planning focused on safety.

Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, present data in an engaging and user-friendly manner
Support Vision Zero Task Force and work group activities
Offer ideas and feedback on new projects, programs, and interventions
Assist with quick-build safety projects and evaluation
Prepare brief memos explaining methodology and findings
Conduct field work, including data collection, observations, traffic counts, walk audits, and project installation
Assist with public outreach, events, meetings, surveys, focus groups, etc
Prepare presentations and other materials for public consumption
Conduct research to assist staff, especially on peer city best practices that may lead to local policy, process, or infrastructure change
Support other transportation planning projects and initiatives as needed and as interested

Required

completed a BA/BS in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, Geography or a related degree
currently enrolled in a graduate planning program
recently completed a graduate planning program
Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe products (including Illustrator and InDesign), and GIS

Preferred

A valid NC driver's license is preferred for this position due to meetings, outreach, and event participation
ability to transport oneself efficiently locally and regionally without a driver's license is acceptable
