Responsibilities

Performing challenging oversight duties related to the administration of the City's parking meter program
Directing the work of the parking meter specialists
Collecting and analyzing data from the meter systems
Ordering parts and equipment
Managing the relationship with the program's vendors
Conducting investigations and resolving complaints related to parking meters

Required

Six years of experience in paraprofessional engineering work
Including three years of paraprofessional civil engineering experience
OR one year of experience at the level of Chief Engineering Technician
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work effectively with deadlines
Knowledge of/in: Parking meter operations
Knowledge of/in: Field safety practices
Knowledge of/in: Parking meter repair and installation
Knowledge of/in: Traffic engineering principles and practices
Knowledge of/in: Civil engineering principles and techniques
Strong written and verbal communication skills, must be extremely organized, self-motivated, able to make sound decisions

Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
Requires working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust
Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required
Requires walking for prolonged periods, which may include walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces
Working on City streets near vehicular traffic

Parking meter operations and troubleshooting
Manipulating and analyzing data to support decision-making
Creating reports and documents using MS Word and Excel
Professional and collaborative interaction with internal and external stakeholders, management, and the public
