Responsibilities

Receives both routine and emergency calls from the public regarding animal control matters
Handles all correspondence received from public emails for the unit
Dispatches emergency calls, providing pertinent information to Animal Control Officers via two-way radio
Monitors the radio, checks the status and disposition of officers working in the field, and calls for aid to local law enforcement agencies when appropriate
Receives requests for information from the officers, research additional information, as requested, and provides such information to the officer via radio
Provides a variety of factual information regarding rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as services provided by the division
Assists in maintaining all records in an electronic records database for the unit
Scans and processes records and evidence for the Animal Protection Services Division such as: animal bites, photographs, witness statements, etc
Dispatchers are responsible for quarantine releases by monitoring and reviewing bite reports during the duration of the quarantine period
Processes all requests for records, redacting confidential information pursuant to current NRS statutes
Reviews and sends citations to the appropriate court for processing/review
May train new officers and dispatchers on dispatch operations and work procedures
Assists in maintaining a computerized record system for a variety of operational information such as officer call outcome, dead or injured animals, rabies testing and other related information
Assists in compiling information and a variety of periodic and special reports
May train others in work procedures
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team
Performs a variety of general clerical work in support of office functions such as filing, typing, and maintaining a variety of office supplies
Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, multifunction printer/scanner, and radio base station in the course of the work

Required

Equivalent to graduation from high school
One (1) year of full-time experience in radio dispatching or switchboard operation
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation
Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination
Work scheduled off-hours shifts
