Responsibilities

Analyze, investigate and plan specific engineering criteria, characteristics and features to meet assignment goals
Perform routine engineering investigations in support of current research or product development efforts using engineering software analysis tools
Prepare design sketches or drawings for components, sub-assemblies, processes or equipment using CAD or 3-D solid modeling software
Assist with the design, development and evaluation of prototype medical devices, equipment and software
Assist with the preparation and evaluation of test protocols and test specimens
Prepare charts, graphs and documentation in support of articles for publication, project reports and grant applications

Required

Bachelor of Science in biomedical, mechanical or electrical engineering or in a related field
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Ability to distinguish color
Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc

Preferred

Previous experience and completion of a co-op or internship
Experience in medical imaging, computer vision and vision–language models
Strong interest in applying AI to surgical guidance and planning
Prior work in surgical navigation, robotics, or healthcare AI
Hands on experience with reinforcement learning, world models
Experience with AI/ML model development, preferably in the context of fine-tuning MMLM using multimodal data
