Power Systems Field Service Specialist (LV/MV & Controls)

JDC Power Systems, LLC is adding an experienced field professional to keep our customers’ power systems running reliably. In this FSR3-level position, you will be the on-site expert for diagnostics, maintenance, and repair across electrical distribution and industrial control environments.

Responsibilities

Arrive on-site ready to troubleshoot and service transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-based controls
Run system diagnostics to isolate issues quickly and restore uptime with minimal disruption
Support system startups and commissioning to ensure installations meet customer specifications
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, resolve technical concerns, and deliver basic operator training
Capture detailed service records, test reports, and performance feedback after each engagement
Maintain accurate time, work, and on-site inventory logs
Coordinate with fellow technicians to deliver timely, effective service
Leverage remote troubleshooting tools when appropriate to shorten downtime
Work to company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards; participate in safety training and keep certifications current

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
3–5 years as a field service technician focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls
Hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience with electrical systems, transformers, and circuit breakers
Expert troubleshooting and structured problem-solving
Proficiency using field service management tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Clear communicator who can explain technical findings to customers
Self-directed; able to prioritize in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
Willing and able to travel frequently, including overnights, to customer sites and JDC locations nationwide
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction
Comfort with industry-standard test equipment (multimeters, breaker test sets)

Preferred

Associate's degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred
NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus
Low and medium voltage system experience
Baseline familiarity with PLCs, SCADA platforms, and protective relay systems
Journeyman's License
