Responsibilities

Oversee security software maintenance and patching for all enterprise RHEL servers, ensuring updates meet required SLAs
Review, analyze, and act on vulnerability scan outputs (e.g., Tenable) to identify at‑risk systems and drive remediation
Coordinate with application teams to schedule maintenance windows, validate backout plans, and communicate patching impacts
Track compliance with security standards, including remediation timelines defined by the Threat & Vulnerability Management Standard
Own and drive the vulnerability remediation lifecycle, including identification, communication, escalation, and follow‑through until closure
Monitor official security dashboards (Tenable, Prisma, etc.) to detect new vulnerabilities and ensure accurate ownership and prioritization
Maintain system integrity and minimize operational risk by validating patch success, investigating failed updates, and performing post‑patch checks
Collaborate with Information Security and GRC teams to ensure policy alignment and provide documentation or evidence for audits (SOX, internal security reviews)
Document and maintain processes for OS and application security updates, updating procedures as environment or policy requirements evolve
Provide cross‑team communication on vulnerabilities, patch progress, and risk acceptance decisions to maintain transparency and drive timely remediation
Support ongoing and future IT initiatives by ensuring the RHEL environment remains secure, stable, and compliant

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
2+ years of hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in large, enterprise environments
2+ years of expertise in RHEL system administration, including installation, configuration, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management
Strong proficiency with Red Hat Satellite, including provisioning, patch management, content views, and automation
2+ years knowledge of systemd, kernel tuning, performance troubleshooting, and resource optimization
1+ years of experience with Automation & Infrastructure as Code, specifically: Ansible / Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Bash scripting (Python is a plus)
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, firewalling, SELinux)
Experience supporting enterprise applications running on RHEL (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, NGINX, databases) or equivalent experience
Experience working in an organization utilizing formal processes such as Change Management, Incident/Problem Management and Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing

Preferred

4+ years of hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in large, enterprise environments
4+ years of expertise in RHEL system administration, including installation, configuration, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management
Have experience with PowerShell scripting
Experience with cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, OpenShift, OpenStack)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
Exposure to container runtimes (Podman, Docker) or Kubernetes
Red Hat certifications such as: RHCSA (required or strongly preferred), RHCE (highly preferred), RHCSE/RHCA (bonus)
Understanding of security best practices, including STIG/SOX/PCI compliance, CIS baselines, and vulnerability remediation
