Quality Control & Compliance Specialist
KAPLAN Industrial is a rapidly growing U.S. manufacturer specializing in chemical blending and custom formulation. They are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control & Compliance Specialist to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and documentation accuracy across formulation, blending, packaging, and distribution activities.
Responsibilities
Perform incoming, in-process, and finished-goods quality inspections
Conduct batch checks, visual inspections, and basic laboratory testing as required
Verify formulations, batch records, and production logs for accuracy and compliance
Identify non-conforming materials or products and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Maintain quality control records, logs, and reports in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements
Support and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards
Assist with internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives under ISO 9001
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), technical data sheets, and compliance documentation
Ensure product labeling compliance (GHS, hazard statements, precautionary language)
Support customer audits, supplier evaluations, and regulatory inquiries
Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and quality procedures
Assist in the development, review, and revision of SOPs and quality documentation
Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts
Participate in management reviews and quality meetings as required under ISO 9001
Assist with employee training related to quality, safety, and compliance procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
2+ years of experience in quality control, compliance, or laboratory operations
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality systems
Familiarity with SDS, GHS labeling, and regulatory documentation
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and chemical safety regulations
Ability to interpret formulations, specifications, SOPs, and quality standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and quality reporting tools
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Equivalent experience in chemical manufacturing or quality systems may substitute for formal education
Experience supporting or maintaining ISO 9001 certification
Familiarity with batch traceability, lot control, and inventory quality controls
Experience with CAPA, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment
