Mechanical Design Engineer
Gavan-Graham Electrical Products is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and optimize mechanical components for low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment. This role involves collaboration with electrical engineers and manufacturing to ensure the safety, reliability, and manufacturability of products.
Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for LV/MV electrical systems
Ensure mechanical designs meet electrical requirements, safety standards, and manufacturability
Perform mechanical analysis: stress, thermal, vibration, and tolerance studies
Create 3D models, drawings, and specifications using CAD tools (AutoCAD)
Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical designs
Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in electrical or energy equipment
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, etc.)
Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical analysis
Familiarity with safety standards (UL, IEC, ANSI) is a plus
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred
LV/MV switchgear, transformers, or industrial electrical equipment
Design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA)
Lean manufacturing exposure
