Responsibilities

Own and lead special projects across finance and accounting in collaboration with the Controller, including: Workday implementation and post–go-live optimization
Transition of accounting work for newly acquired entities, including: Accounting setup and chart-of-accounts alignment
Transition of responsibilities from prior teams or external providers
Establishment of standardized processes and controls
Other system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements
Act as project manager for accounting-led initiatives with guidance from the Controller: Define timelines, deliverables, milestones, and dependencies
Coordinate across accounting, operations, IT, and external vendors
Proactively identify risks and escalate issues appropriately to avoid disruption to close
Lead process redesign and documentation together with the Controller: Develop, maintain, and enhance SOPs
Standardize workflows across entities
Improve efficiency, scalability, and internal control maturity leading to a cross-trained team across multiple entities
Serve as primary owner of technical accounting matters with Controller oversight, including: Complex accruals and estimates
Judgmental and non-routine accounting areas
Revenue recognition review (as applicable)
Perform month-end review (not preparation) of: Accruals
Journal entries
Balance sheet reconciliations
Lead improvements to balance sheet schedules in coordination with the Controller, ensuring they are: Accurate, well-supported, and audit-ready
Consistent across entities
Clearly documented with defined ownership and review standards
Train staff accountants to prepare balance sheet schedules with support and reinforcement from the Controller
Ensure consistent application of accounting policies across all entities aligned with Controller guidance
Drive audit readiness and execution in partnership with the Controller: Lead PBC coordination
Review audit schedules, workpapers, and support
Act as first point of contact for auditors prior to escalation to the Controller
Act as primary reviewer and trainer for staff accountants across functional areas working closely with the Controller
Partner with the Controller to train staff, particularly during: Transition of newly acquired entities
Implementation of new systems or processes
Expansion of staff responsibilities (e.g., balance sheet ownership)
Provide structured training, guidance, and feedback to strengthen preparer quality
Establish cross-coverage plans with Controller alignment to reduce key-person risk
Serve as first escalation point for accounting issues before they reach the Controller
Ensure continuity during staff absences, turnover, or acquisitions
Accounting work for newly acquired entities is transitioned smoothly with Controller support and oversight
Staff independently prepare high-quality balance sheet schedules following Controller-approved standards
Balance sheet reconciliations are complete, consistent, and audit-ready
Special projects delivered on time without disrupting month-end close, supported by effective Controller collaboration
Clean, review-ready closes with minimal Controller intervention
Smooth audit cycles with limited last-minute issues or rework

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's a plus)
5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close ownership
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and practical application in a corporate environment
Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Proven ability to manage the full monthly close process under tight deadlines
Experience with revenue recognition and accrual accounting (ASC 606 exposure preferred)
Familiarity with lease accounting (ASC 842) and fixed asset accounting a plus
Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)
Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Workday Financials, QuickBooks, or similar ERP platforms
Ability to work across multiple entities and manage intercompany transactions
Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger financial picture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

ASC 606 exposure preferred
Familiarity with lease accounting (ASC 842) and fixed asset accounting a plus
