Assistant General Counsel (NYC Hybrid)
HarperCollins Publishers is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join the legal team. This role will be primarily responsible for advising publishing colleagues on media law and related litigation.

Responsibilities
Reading and vetting manuscripts with authors prior to publication
Responding to potential legal claims
Analyzing business/legal issues as they may apply to the company
Overseeing copyright statutory terminations
Advising on digital and traditional marketing and the sale of books
Strategizing and managing litigation
Assisting in other legal areas as the need arises
Qualification
Required
JD degree
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or media company
Strong substantive knowledge of general media law issues, including defamation, copyright, trademark, right of publicity, advertising and related fields
Substantial experience in federal and state litigation practice
Understanding and awareness of publishing industry
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels across the organization
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Practical knowledge of business law preferred
