Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations, ensuring that the electrical division doesn't descend into total chaos while managing project, resources, and teams
Review construction job costs and make agonizing decisions about whether to approve that expensive specialized conduit or tell the crew to use duct tape (just kidding, safety first..)
Calmly explain to clients that, no, we cannot run high-voltage lines through the ceiling-mounted, flammable decorative art piece
Push projects to finish on time, magically transforming "Project is 2 weeks behind" into "Final inspection passed"
Motivate and manage staff, which includes listening to project managers complain about clients, and field crews complain about project managers
Fiduciary Responsibilities
Line of Business Profit and Loss
Gross Profit or Growth Targets may be identified to support the strategic initiatives of MCS
Strategic planning of future opportunities, partnering with other divisions, business development team, and company executives to properly forecast budgetary requirements for the electrical division for the upcoming fiscal year, revenue targets, and growth opportunities
The Director is responsible for managing their P&L regarding not only the project financials contributing to their P&L but also both Direct and Indirect costs associated with the performance of their teams and projects
Indirect costs include but are not limited to Tooling, Vehicles, and General and Administrative costs associated with managing the Line of Business
Project Budgets
While the Director is not personally managing each project themselves, they are responsible for managing the Project Managers who have responsibility for the financial aspect of each individual project
This includes material buyouts, direct labor and manpower, rental equipment, and subcontractors
Each Director should work closely with their Project Managers to ensure positive cash flow is maintained for each of their projects
Contributors to this can be Large Material Buyouts
Includes timely billings and payments through the customer
Direct oversight of individuals who are identified within the director's organizational chart
Includes but is not limited to:
Direct management of Project Managers focusing on their deliverables and projects
Oversight of field resources assigned to the Line of Business
Training and Developing of Project Management Team and field resources
Accountability and discipline of their team members
Accuracy of Financial Reporting performed by their respective teams
Identifying opportunities for revenue growth via change orders to their existing book of business
Customer satisfaction and relations with their existing customers from active projects
Oversight of projects transitioned to their line of business with all required documentation

Required

College Degree Preferred
minimum of 7 years of related experience leading teams and projects for Electrical Construction ... Commercial/Infrastructure projects
Expertise: You know more about electricity than Benjamin Franklin and more about construction than that guy who builds tiny houses
Leadership: You can lead a team through a crisis, a power outage, or a surprise inspection without losing your hard hat
Judgment: Advanced judgment to know when to follow the blueprint, and when the architect was clearly intoxicated when they drew it
Skills: Proficient in MS Project, Excel, and maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting
Keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government regulations
Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses through the duration of the project or contract
Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation and enhances productivity in the workplace
Candidate must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously
Candidate must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with various external customers including government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels
Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the company
