Responsibilities
Design, conduct, and optimize advanced neuroscience experiments in support of funded research aims
Support neuroscience research involving non-human primate (NHP) models, including analysis of neural data collected during NHP experiments
Apply specialized knowledge of neuroscience methodologies (e.g., electrophysiology, imaging, behavioral neuroscience, rodent and NHP neurosurgery, neuromodulation, data analysis to address complex scientific questions
Develop, maintain, and optimize analysis pipelines for electrophysiological data (e.g., ERP, EEG, LFP)
Perform preprocessing, artifact detection/removal, feature extraction, and statistical analyses
Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals, progress reports, and other sponsored project documentation
Author or co-author peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and technical reports
Assist with the development of new research directions and pilot studies
Serve as a subject-matter expert for specialized neuroscience techniques, instrumentation, and protocols. Including Developing, maintaining, and optimizing analysis pipelines for electrophysiological datasets
Provide consultation and troubleshooting support to faculty, trainees, and research staff
Evaluate and implement new technologies or methodologies relevant to the research program
Train and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and research staff in experimental techniques, data collection, and best practices
Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of research activities to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and adherence to protocols
Ensure compliance with University, sponsor, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB, IACUC, biosafety, HIPAA, data security)
Assist with protocol development, amendments, and regulatory documentation
Support laboratory or core operations, including equipment oversight, SOP development, and quality control
Qualification
Required
BA/BS degree plus at least six years of relevant experience, or advanced degree plus at least four years of relevant experience
Minimum 2 years postdoctoral or equivalent research experience, emphasizing advanced technical competence and increasing independence
Demonstrated record of scholarly contributions, including multiple peer-reviewed publications as lead author
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment
Preferred
PhD or equivalent terminal degree in neuroscience or a closely related field
Experience contributing to externally funded research projects
Demonstrated mentoring or training experience
Expertise in one or more advanced neuroscience techniques aligned with the department's research focus
Experience working in regulated research environments (human subjects and/or animal research)
