Field Service Controls Technician
Revolution Machine Tools is seeking a skilled Field Service Electrical Controls Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and commission industrial machinery at customer facilities. This role focuses on electrical and controls systems used on various machinery, requiring strong technical skills and the ability to work independently in industrial environments.
Responsibilities
Install and commission new machinery, including electrical connections, control systems, PLCs, drives, sensors, and safety circuits
Perform machine setup, calibration, parameter tuning, and functional testing
Install, test, or repair machine tools such as press brake, plate roll, angle roll, shear, band saw, welding positioner, lathe, fiber laser, etc
Repair or fabricate machine parts, fixtures, and tools
Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues including: 3-phase power systems, Control wiring & panels, PLCs and automation controls, VFDs, servo drives, motors, and encoders, Safety relays, light curtains, e-stops, and interlocks
Troubleshoot hydraulic and mechanical systems as needed to support overall machine functionality
Provide emergency service support and rapid response troubleshooting
Use sound judgment to deal with and eliminate safety related issues and adhere to OSHA regulations
Train customer personnel on machine operation, safety, and routine maintenance
Communicate findings, solutions, and recommendations clearly and professionally
Document service visits, parts used, diagnostics, and completed repairs
Travel to customer sites across the region/country
Occasional international travel may be required for installations or training
Ability to work extended hours or weekends when service needs arise
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems (480V 3-phase, control circuits, etc.)
Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.)—basic programming or editing a plus
Familiarity with CNC controls, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial automation
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and machine drawings
Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred
Proficiency with multimeters, scopes, and electrical diagnostic tools
3+ years of experience in industrial electrical, controls, or field service work
Background in machine tool service or manufacturing equipment is highly preferred
Strong communication and customer-facing professionalism
Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently in demanding environments
Comfortable managing travel, schedules, and service logistics
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in industrial shop environments
Comfortable bending, climbing, standing for extended periods
Ability to work around machinery, hydraulic systems, and electrical panels safely
Applicants must also have a good driving record, valid driver's license
Preferred
Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred
Background in machine tool service or manufacturing equipment is highly preferred
