Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Abrams Fensterman, LLP is a vibrant and growing full-service law firm committed to providing quality counsel and innovative solutions. They are seeking a Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support their Mental Health and Hygiene practice group, responsible for drafting legal documents, managing administrative duties, and liaising with clients throughout litigation.
Consulting
Responsibilities
Draft litigation documents, including motions, orders, and post-judgment papers
Draft correspondence and court-related documents in accordance with judicial procedures
Prepare, organize, and maintain files in both paper and electronic formats
Maintain detailed Outlook calendars, including scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings
Knowledge of guardianship pleadings and proceedings is helpful
Manage administrative duties including arranging conference calls and meetings, copying, scanning, printing, and file maintenance
Create, edit, format, and proofread letters, memoranda, and other documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Request conflict checks, open new client matters, and submit electronic approvals as needed
Liaise directly with clients and third parties throughout all phases of litigation and/or case resolution
Answer phone calls and take accurate messages for multiple attorneys while managing calendars
Assist with additional ad hoc projects as needed
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of experience in an administrative and litigation support capacity
Experience drafting legal documents throughout all phases of litigation, including discovery requests, RJIs, motions, stipulations, subpoenas, notices, and post-judgment papers
Experience formatting briefs and preparing exhibit books
OCR document experience
Experience filing court documents, including e-filing in both state and federal courts (NYSCEF and ECF)
Experience tracking court dates and deadlines
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with strong organizational skills
Eagerness to learn and take initiative
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook), Adobe, Westlaw, Litify, or similar systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished presentation
3–5 years of experience providing administrative and litigation support in a law firm environment
Strong client service and problem-solving skills
Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
Proactive and anticipatory work style
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels
Preferred
Paralegal Certificate
Familiarity with law firm billing systems (Litify or equivalent)
