Responsibilities
Lead and execute systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle : concept development, requirements definition, architecture, design, integration, verification, validation, deployment, and sustainment
Translate mission objectives and operational needs into clear, testable system requirements
Manage requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and change control
Define and evolve system and subsystem architectures for complex aerospace platforms and system-of-systems environments
Perform trade studies, technical assessments, and risk analyses to support design decisions
Ensure alignment and integration across hardware, software, avionics, cybersecurity, operations, and external interfaces
Support integration planning and execution across multiple subsystems and stakeholders
Develop and execute verification and validation strategies aligned with mission, safety, and reliability requirements
Support system test planning, readiness reviews, and acceptance activities
Ensure compliance with applicable DoD, FAA, NASA, and federal standards
Support safety, reliability, and mission assurance activities for critical systems
Serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor to program leadership and government customers
Lead technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) and support government milestone reviews
Produce clear technical documentation, system descriptions, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders
Mentor and guide junior systems engineers in best practices and lifecycle discipline
Apply MBSE and digital engineering techniques where appropriate to support architecture definition, traceability, and analysis
Maintain system models, interfaces, and artifacts in support of lifecycle engineering objectives
Integrate model-based artifacts with traditional systems engineering documentation and processes
Qualification
Required
10+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex, mission-critical systems
Proven experience executing systems engineering across the entire system lifecycle
Strong background in requirements engineering, system architecture, and system integration
Experience working on federal, aerospace, or defense programs
Ability to operate effectively in secure, highly regulated environments
Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to brief senior technical and government stakeholders
Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) or ability to obtain and maintain clearance
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
Preferred
Experience with system-of-systems or large distributed architectures
Familiarity with MBSE and SysML tools (e.g., Cameo, Rhapsody, Capella, Enterprise Architect)
Experience with digital engineering initiatives
Knowledge of aerospace and defense standards (e.g., MIL-STD-499, MIL-STD-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754)
Experience supporting safety-critical, real-time, or high-reliability systems
Background in aerospace, space systems, missile defense, avionics, ISR, or similar mission-critical domains
Master's degree preferred
