Responsibilities

The Deputy Director, J8 and Director of Financial Improvement/Audit Remediation, in the dual capacity of the Agency's Budget Officer, is responsible for planning, programming, formulating, defending and executing the Agency's financial and manpower resources. As the Deputy Director J8 and Director of Financial Improvement/Audit Remediation, the incumbent also shares wholly in the responsibility of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as a principal financial management advisor to the DLA Director and DLA Vice Director
The Deputy Director, J8 and Director of Financial Improvement/Audit Remediation has program management responsibilities for all agency Program Objectives Memorandum and budgetary policy, systems and programs, and participates fully with the CFO in managing the Agency's overall financial management program. The incumbent has full authority to make a broad range of executive decisions in the role of Budget Officer that impact virtually every major agency program. In addition, the incumbent is held accountable for the coordination and integration of program and budget requirements with the Agency's line and other staff organizations and is relied upon to take appropriate levels of risk in formulating, justifying and executing the more than $38 billion in goods and services annually
The Deputy Director, J8 and Director of Financial Improvement/Audit Remediation serves as the Agency's Chief Executive for Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR). The incumbent is delegated as the lead for all Agency audit activities to reach audit goals across three funds. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for building the overall Agency audit plan and to ensure compliance with all audit metrics and timelines. The Deputy Director, J8 and Director of Financial Improvement/Audit Remediation is the Agency expert on all audit support and remediation efforts and serves as the primary liaison to the DoW Inspector General, Independent Public Accounting firms, the Department's Deputy Chief Financial Officer, and the Deputy Assistant Secretaries for Financial Management in the Military Departments for all audit and accounting issues
