Mechanical Commissioning Lead

Daksta is connecting mission-critical talent and is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Lead responsible for the mechanical commissioning scope on flagship data center projects. The role involves defining strategies, managing resources, and ensuring mechanical systems meet performance and efficiency requirements before client handover.

Responsibilities

Develop the project-specific mechanical commissioning plan, procedures, and test scripts
Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Commissioning Engineers and specialist vendors
Coordinate mechanical commissioning activities with electrical, controls, and construction teams
Review mechanical designs for constructability, maintainability, and commissionability
Oversee system start-up, balancing, performance testing, and seasonal testing protocols
Serve as the primary point of contact for the client and MEP contractor on all mechanical commissioning matters
Ensure all work meets sustainability and energy efficiency goals (LEED, ISO 50001)
Manage the mechanical commissioning schedule, budget, and risk register
Approve final mechanical system turnover and as-built documentation

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
8+ years in HVAC/Mechanical systems, with 5+ years in a commissioning role and 3+ years in a lead capacity on mission-critical projects
Expert knowledge of data center cooling strategies (chilled water, DX, adiabatic, free cooling)
Strong understanding of BAS/Controls sequences and their impact on mechanical performance
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and project management skills

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status is a plus
