They are seeking a part-time Lab Assistant who will be responsible for receiving, processing, and preparing specimens for testing, while ensuring accurate registration and communication with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities
Establishes, maintains and improves strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the public, other Mount Carmel Health departments and own department staff
Accurately receives specimens sent/brought to the laboratory, processing them in the most appropriate manner for the department or shift assigned
Collects specimens utilizing professional and accepted practices; labels specimens accurately
Prepares all specimens for send out to Reference Laboratories
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills required
Effective Communication Skills
Detail oriented; able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively function in stressful situations and perform multiple tasks
Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed
Preferred
Working knowledge of medical terminology is desirable
Previous experience in health related field preferred
