Entry Level Industrial Engineer, Transit & Rail
GFT is seeking an Entry Level Industrial Engineer to join their Transit and Rail Facilities Industrial Team. This role involves supporting the planning, analysis, and design of bus and rail maintenance facilities, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance transit maintenance operations.
Responsibilities
Identifying, analyzing, and documenting maintenance processes and flows for bus and rail maintenance facilities
Developing maintenance shop layouts, focusing on spatial relationships and sizes (i.e. form, fit, and function of the maintenance shop area)
Operations analysis and optimization
Writing reports on maintenance operations and programming requirements
Selecting maintenance equipment and preparing specifications for the equipment
Coordinating with other disciplines in the development of construction drawings and specifications
Occasional travel (up to 25% of time, including overnight) for field work, meetings and presentations with transit clients
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a professional and productive manner
Be willing to expand your skills and grow professionally
Obtain PE or AIA licensure when available
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture from an accredited program
0–3 years of relevant experience in transportation, infrastructure, or facilities projects
Demonstrated interest in transit and rail facilities or engineering through applied academic coursework, past internships, or related experiences
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or other design software
