Responsibilities
Embed, cut, stain, and perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology procedures in the Immunohistochemistry lab
Perform accurate gross descriptions on tissue samples under guidance of senior staff
Follow all quality control protocols for each method and maintain precise and complete QC documentation
Operate laboratory instruments and equipment per written procedures and identify/resolve instrument issues promptly
Meet established turnaround times and productivity standards for assigned sections
Recognize and report testing discrepancies, errors, or unusual results; assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution
Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results according to laboratory protocols
Support team members in identifying and analyzing inconsistent or abnormal results
Review results for accuracy and completeness before releasing them in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Complete routine and STAT histology tasks within accepted turnaround times
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related life science
Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (minimum 720 hours)
State licensure, where applicable (CA, FL, and NY require licensing)
Must meet CLIA personnel standard criteria
ASCP HT
Proven skills in microtomy, grossing, tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and routine/special staining techniques
5+ years of histotechnology experience required
Over 10+ years of Microtomy
