Product Engineer

Cognistack is seeking a Product Engineer for a full-time, permanent role. The successful candidate will own the recruiter dashboard product, working directly with founders and users to enhance and iterate on the product experience.

Responsibilities

Design and build product flows from first principles through to production, with a strong focus on the recruiter experience
Talk directly to recruiters to understand how they actually use the product and turn their workflows into tools that make them 10x more effective
Redesign key flows (e.g., candidate submission) to reduce friction—auto‑pull data from LinkedIn/GitHub, integrate with notetakers, pre‑populate fields from AI call transcripts
Improve role discovery—better role cards, video digests, role Q&A, filtering, and bundling similar roles together
Redesign the pipeline view (Kanban boards, better tracking, “stale” indicators) to surface stuck candidates without overwhelming users
Build calibration features so recruiters can preview how AI will score a submission before they submit
Build “role fit score” and similar features that show recruiters which roles match their expertise and existing candidate pool
Collaborate closely with the Applied AI Engineer to integrate AI‑powered elements (summaries, Q&A, recommendations) into simple, intuitive UI
Drive growth‑oriented initiatives across the funnel: signups, activation, engagement, retention, and billing
Ship reputation and incentive features—progress bars toward bonus milestones, earnings dashboards, leaderboards, badges
Own product quality and polish: obsess over details in design and interaction so the product feels easy, fast, and delightful to use
Collaborate with the founder and team on product and business decisions as you balance speed of shipping with long‑term quality

Required

4+ years of full-stack experience building products end-to-end - you thrive when you own a codebase top to bottom
A product mindset: you care deeply about the customer and the business, not just the code
Obsessive attention to detail in design and interaction - you push for experiences that feel easy and delightful
Strong programming fundamentals and fluency across modern full-stack web technologies
Engineering experience at fast-growing, product-driven companies where you had to figure things out without a playbook (ideally at early-stage companies)

Preferred

Early‑stage, high‑growth company or founding‑team experience
HR or recruiting tech experience, or experience building tools for power users (CRMs, dashboards, internal tools)
