Responsibilities
Manage Assistant, QA Supervisors, and QA Staff
Perform disciplinary actions on employees not following company policies
Assist in maintaining QA supplies, reduce costs, and collaborate with Purchasing Manager for cost innovation
Investigate customer complaints
Develop and/or update QA forms
Perform trend analysis on microbiological data, Non-Conformances (NRs), and customer complaints
Conduct quarterly audits (e.g., GMP, verification, pest control, glass/plastic)
Review HACCP paperwork daily to ensure Critical Control Point (CCP) compliance
Review SSOP paperwork and verify sanitary processing conditions daily
Access and evaluate microbiological test results (pre-operational and others)
Maintain strong relationships with USDA inspectors and Production Management
Facilitate samples for customers and/or microbiological testing
Collect and evaluate AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) data
Place product on hold if it fails specifications or compliance
Monitor sanitation practices
Verify returned product and determine root cause
Validate all food safety and process control procedures
Provide continuous training to QA technicians
Implement and monitor SQF 2000 Level 2 as SQF Practitioner
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, or related) or equivalent combination of production experience and education required
Preferred
HACCP certification preferred
Prior experience in poultry/meat processing, quality assurance, food safety systems (HACCP, SSOP, SQF/GFSI), USDA compliance, team supervision, auditing, and microbiological data analysis strongly preferred
