Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. They are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Weapons Facilities Operations portfolio, contributing to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering program and ensuring effective management of facility systems and configurations.

Responsibilities
Obtain, evaluate and compare equipment selections from manufacturer's representatives
Provide control and maintenance of the technical baseline of the facility equipment while ensuring facility system configuration is being managed effectively using a risk-based graded approach
Assist in defining maintenance requirements involving corrective maintenance and the tracking and trending of system performance, provide information for preventative maintenance scheduling, and perform regular facility system walkdowns and Facility Health Reports
Review design outputs for impact to technical baseline and Master Equipment Lists (MEL), and control and maintain the MEL for assigned facilities
Coordinate with Pressure Safety Officer (PSO) on facility pressure safety systems
Review Integrated Work Documents (IWDs), provide technical interface to existing facility systems and components, and support configuration management
Be a source of expert knowledge of assigned facilities and facility safety documentation, and navigate and implement prevailing industry codes and standards
Follow the LANL Conduct of Engineering (CoE) Program in support of facility modifications and facility configuration management in accordance with the LANL Engineering Standards Manual (ESM), LANL Administrative Procedures (APs), LANL Master Specifications, and related Codes and Standards
Develop skills to independently run all engineering facets of a project from scoping to construction to sustainment
Foster relationships with project stakeholders and customers as a representative of Engineering Services
Facilitate technical growth of the engineering team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
2 years of practical work experience for Engineer 1
3 years of practical work experience for Engineer 2
Current registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is highly desirable
Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and procedures, design guides, appropriate standards, and administrative practices
Fundamental knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of technology aided engineering tools to conventional facility and operations-based engineering problems
Fundamental knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods, maintenance techniques and construction techniques
Fundamental knowledge of project and process engineering practices
Recognized broad and/or unique knowledge of facility engineering systems, processes, and calculations; application of facility engineering methods; and application of technology aided nuclear facility engineering tools to nuclear facility engineering problems
Thorough knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the facility engineering discipline
Preferred
Electrical/Mechanical engineering degree and/or experience with facility electrical systems is strongly preferred
Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
Design or operations experience in nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations
Experienced in producing designs utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit tools and work processes
Knowledge of DOE, LANL Engineering Standards, and Conduct of Engineering principles and procedures
