Responsibilities

Providing mechanical technical guidance/leadership to accomplish the work committed to in proposals and assigning / leading the appropriate mechanical resources to do the work
Assist Project/Client Managers by providing engineering resources – a design team - to help meet the client’s desires and budget. Duties would also include some involvement in direct sales and assisting with sales efforts for multidiscipline projects
Technical and Quality oversight of all mechanical work. Authority for all technical decisions made for projects within the Department including establishing/improving mechanical design standards
Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates
Coordination with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants
Taking a highly active role in recruitment of mechanical staff including networking, recruitment, interviewing and “deal closing ”
Organizing mechanical staff in a way to allow career advancement, professional development, quality client service, and operational efficiencies to meet business and project financial goals
Schedule for the mechanical department/staff including:
Project assignments and priorities
Delivery due dates for group project commitments
Workload/Capacity
Annual evaluations for each direct report
Provide general updates of where mechanical discipline is at on projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, budget, etc.)
Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination
Attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services
Simply put – Discipline/Department Managers control all production resources, and all commitments must come from Discipline/Department Managers. Conversely – accountability for our deliveries comes from Discipline/Department Managers

Required

Accomplished mechanical engineer/PE with 15+ years of progressive technical experience in the design of mechanical systems
Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success in meeting contract specifications and achieving high performance and growth of a team
Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
