Civil Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead site evaluations, feasibility studies, and detailed civil design for community solar installations across multiple regions
Oversee preparation of site layouts, grading and drainage plans, stormwater management systems, access roads, and erosion control designs
Manage civil engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, permitting, and construction
Serve as the primary civil engineering point of contact for internal project teams, external consultants, and local permitting agencies
Coordinate and review the work of junior engineers, designers, and third-party consultants to ensure quality and consistency
Drive permitting strategy, prepare permit packages, and support community engagement processes
Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections, contractor coordination, and resolution of field issues
Optimize civil design solutions to balance cost, constructability, environmental impact, and long-term asset performance
Support the continuous improvement of civil engineering standards, tools, and workflows within the company

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
4–7 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in renewable energy, land development, or utility-scale infrastructure
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling software, and GIS platforms
Strong knowledge of site development, grading, hydrology, stormwater management, and permitting processes
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing external engineering consultants
Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting requirements for solar or other energy projects
Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred or in progress
Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
Passion for sustainability and community-centered energy solutions

Preferred

Prior experience with community solar projects or distributed generation portfolios
Working knowledge of FAA, wetlands, floodplain, environmental, and local zoning regulations
Experience working with contractors and EPC partners on solar project construction
