Staff Accountant

JFK International Air Terminal is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Controller in various financial functions. The role involves transactional processing, financial analysis, budget development, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Responsibilities

Reviews invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Process vendor and expense report payments
Cash reconciliations
Process year-end 1099 reports as required for vendors
Maintains accounts payable filing system and general ledger
Completes month/year-end close duties as assigned
Performs other accounting functions as assigned
Assists in the preparation of management reports and accompanying schedules
Assists with the preparation of annual financial statements and external audit
Conforms with all internal policies & procedures
Documents policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
Contributes to department and organization special projects, as assigned
Process monthly billings for Airlines and other tenants
Audits and records concessionaires' monthly sales reports

Required

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA desirable, not required
2-3 years of accounting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology
Techniques commonly used in locating errors in accounting records
Generally accepted auditing principles, procedures, and practices
The ability to collect and organize accounting data, interpret its significance, and prepare accurate financial reports
The ability to present accounting data in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical users
The ability to solve difficult and complex accounting and related financial problems
Excellent organization and communication skills; ability to meet deadlines
