LANDSCAPE & IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN
The City of Visalia is recruiting for a Landscape and Irrigation Technician. This role is responsible for overseeing the development, installation, and maintenance of City-maintained landscape and irrigation systems, ensuring adherence to design and maintenance standards for various public properties.

Responsibilities
Overseeing the development, installation, and maintenance of City-maintained landscape and irrigation systems
Implementing city landscape and irrigation design and maintenance standards for landscaping and lighting districts, open space maintenance districts, roadsides and medians, City facilities, pocket parks, and other publicly owned properties
Qualification
Required
Three years of experience in irrigation and landscape maintenance
Possession of a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment
Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape and irrigation design, water and irrigation management, plan review, construction, and maintenance
Proficient in standard office procedures and will perform a variety of administrative functions, including contract management, determining work priorities, and preparing and analyzing project cost estimates
Ability to build and maintain cooperative, professional working relationships with developers, contractors, coworkers, other City departments, and the public
Responsible for maintaining accurate records and logs
Experience using standard office equipment, including the ability to operate and learn relevant computer software programs
Preferred
Welding certificate is desirable

Bilingual pay of $900 per year, pro-rated on a pay period basis
Communications Training Pay: $1,000 per year, prorated and paid bi-weekly

Regular non-shift full-time City employees receive 11 paid holidays and one (1) floating holiday per year
Regular full-time employees earn 10 days per year
Sick Leave: Regular full-time employees earn 96 hours of sick leave per year

Administrative Leave: Employees classified as FLSA exempt currently receive 56 hours of administrative leave per calendar year
Compensatory Time Off: Regular full-time employees classified as FLSA non-exempt currently receive eight (8) hours compensatory time off per calendar year
Health Insurance: The City provides employee health insurance which includes medical, dental, and vision care
Life Insurance: The City pays the premium for a life insurance and accidental death or dismemberment policy of $30,000
Retirement: The City of Visalia is a member of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS)
Long Term Disability: Regular full-time City employees are eligible for disability insurance (up to 2/3 of their salary)
Worker's Compensation: Full-time and hourly employees who sustain an occupational injury or contract occupational illnesses receive standard Worker's Compensation benefits
