Internal Quality Engineer

The Internal Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the internal Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and customer requirements, focusing on internal audits and process improvement.

Responsibilities

Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.)
Plan, conduct, and report internal audits and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives
Review and approve internal procedures, work instructions, and quality records
Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities and ensure proper disposition of nonconforming products
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program teams to ensure quality requirements are met
Assist with customer, regulatory, and third-party audits
Support risk management activities, including FMEA and process risk assessments
Promote a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field
2+ years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements
Experience conducting internal audits and managing corrective action processes
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred

AS9100 Internal Auditor certification
Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, special processes)
Familiarity with configuration management and document control
Experience working with customer quality requirements and audits
