Responsibilities

Contribute to the design of regional mine sites, power plants, and dams. Facilities include stockpiles, impoundments, tailing dams, and water dams
Generate conceptual layouts/designs and perform calculations/analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and haulage/access/circulation roads. Designs incorporate erosion control features, geosynthetics, and exposed or sub-surface piping
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS and/or HEC-RAS
Perform geotechnical evaluations and design analyses
Develop quantity and cost estimates, and alternative assessments
Prepare drafts of portions of technical proposals, reports, regulatory agency permits, as well as less complex external and internal documents
Prepare reservoir and pond designs including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, breach analysis, outlet works, and spillways
Design channels and energy dissipation structures that include concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion control
Intermittently engage on regional projects with other offices in the region
Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues

Required

BA/BS in Civil Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid US Driver's License

Preferred

Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of employment
Ability to travel
Experience and familiarity with the following programs: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, AutoCAD Civil3D, ArcGIS
