Lead Database Administrator

Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud database solutions aligned with organizational objectives
Optimize database performance through efficient data models, indexing strategies, and query optimization
Ensure data integrity, availability, and security through governance, access controls, encryption, and disaster recovery practices
Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, customers, and stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions
Conduct technology assessments and support modernization initiatives
Manage user access, secure systems, and implement recovery techniques for system breaches
Operate across organizational and technical silos to promote shared data architecture approaches
Define and implement data architecture supporting diverse business processes and projects
Provide technical support and training to IT personnel
Maintain accurate documentation of data architecture, design, and development processes
Design databases according to approved architectural standards to improve overall system performance
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in enterprise database design, data modeling, schema development, and performance tuning
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and managed database services desired
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL
Working knowledge of PL/SQL, scripting, and database job automation
Familiarity with Linux, UNIX, Oracle, Microsoft Access, and database administration tools
Understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance requirements
Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) is a plus
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related discipline with 10+ years of professional experience, or 8+ years with a related Master's degree
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in related technical fields
Broad IT knowledge with deep expertise in one or more areas such as database design, cloud, DevSecOps, microservices, SOA, identity and access management, or high-availability infrastructure
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to multitask effectively
Ability to produce results in a collaborative environment
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
