Senior Designer, Wovens

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Design Director, Wovens, and the Head of Design, lead research and concept development for the woven category in alignment with seasonal line plans, brand vision, and business objectives
Partner with the Design Director to develop and present comprehensive design concepts, including research, sketching, draping, fabric manipulation, textile and surface development, and finishing mockups
Ensure all designs thoughtfully consider fabric, construction, trims, finishes, artwork, and branding details appropriate to the woven category
Collaborate with the Wovens Design Director to present focused design concepts to the Head of Design for inclusion in woven presentations to the Creative Director; evolve concepts based on feedback and continue development as needed
Take ownership of assigned groups within the woven category from concept through final production, ensuring consistency of vision, quality, and execution across both structured and soft wovens
Prioritize design and development initiatives in alignment with overseas calendars, seasonal milestones, and critical path deadlines
Partner closely with Technical Design and Product Development to ensure accurate and complete communication of design intent to overseas factories
Proactively identify potential risks or challenges during development and propose solution-oriented alternatives that maintain design integrity and production feasibility
Delegate and manage design workflow across junior designers and interns, providing clear direction, feedback, and mentorship
Ensure all design information—including fabric, trim, construction, artwork, and branding—is clearly documented and communicated
Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product Development, Technical Design, Patternmaking) to maintain alignment and accountability throughout the process
Work directly with Patternmaking from initial draping through fittings and showroom sample execution
Liaise with Fabric teams to ensure all woven fabrics are organized, tracked, and aligned with seasonal direction
Partner with the Trim department to manage trims, artwork, and finishes specific to the woven category
Oversee trim development and approvals, ensuring consistency with design intent, cost targets, and production requirements
Create and maintain all styles in the system, ensuring accurate sketches, product descriptions, and classifications
Track and update all design changes accurately and in real time
Maintain and communicate updates to design boards to ensure visibility and alignment across teams
Prepare and present clear, up-to-date design information for weekly Design Operations meetings
Participate in pre-fittings of all prototypes to identify improvements and develop solutions ahead of proto reviews
Support the Design Director in preparation for proto review meetings, ensuring all garments are reviewed, resolved, and aligned with the seasonal line plan
Communicate SMS launches by style and SKU to Product Development and ensure systems and design boards reflect accurate launch status
Review all SMS upon arrival and coordinate necessary adjustments or corrections
Participate in SMS fittings through TOP samples, ensuring fit comments, design intent, and execution details are clearly communicated and resolved
Support the Head of Design in preparation for styling meetings, ensuring SMS are present, organized by line sheet, and supported with supplemental materials as needed
Participate in styling and fitting the collection for shows, presentations, and/or lookbooks
Contribute to overall line coherence and storytelling through styling and presentation support
Participate in BOM reviews with the ability to make informed, solution-oriented decisions regarding trims, counter-sourcing, and sales call-outs
Maintain close collaboration with Technical Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production to balance creative intent, cost, and manufacturability through final delivery
Ensure seasonal products align with pricing, margin, and business targets while maintaining brand integrity
Qualification
Required
BA or BFA
7+ years' experience in designer capacity
Excellent flat sketching skills
Excellent knowledge of patternmaking or draping
Excellent knowledge of construction, sewing techniques and finishes
Familiar with fabric mills, fabric capabilities and applications
Strong color and print sense
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines
Excellent communication skills and ability to lead, delegate and manage a team
Prior experience managing and leading design assistants
Strong ability to present ideas and research
Strong Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate and Indesign skills
Enthusiasm to bring new energy into design process
