Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Inland Empire Regional Composting Facility
Plan, schedule, assign, and inspect the work of skilled and journey-level staff engaged in compost manufacturing and the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of facility structures, equipment, and systems
Provide hands-on leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations while producing a high-quality compost product

Required

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent
A substantial amount of course work in civil, industrial, sanitary, environmental or chemical engineering, environmental sciences or related fields
Five years of progressively responsible experience in the operations of a composting facility, wastewater treatment plant, solid waste treatment or similar facility
At least three years experience in a management or supervisory capacity
Experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical and/or electrical and electronic systems, equipment and machinery commonly associated with a large production operation
A valid Class 'C' California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program
Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff
Ability to motivate and develop employees through effective training, coaching, and performance management in accordance with Agency policies and labor agreements
Ability to analyze complex operational and maintenance issues, evaluate alternatives, exercise sound judgment, and implement effective solutions to support facility goals and operational efficiency
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, prepare accurate reports and records, interpret drawings and manuals, and coordinate work activities with other departments, agencies, contractors, and stakeholders

Preferred

College-level or advanced technical training in equipment/facilities maintenance
A Class 'A' California driver's license
Attainment of a valid Forklift Operator Certification within 12 months of appointment
A CWEA Maintenance Technician Grade IV Certification
A Grade III or higher wastewater certification
