Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication regarding case status, document requests, and procedural updates
Manage family law cases involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and related matters from inception through resolution
Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
Assist attorneys with discovery processes, including document collection, organization, review, and preparation of discovery responses
Support attorneys in preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials, including assembling exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks
File documents with courts electronically and in person, ensuring compliance with court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements
Maintain and organize case files, calendars, and deadlines using case management systems
Conduct legal and factual research related to family law statutes, court rules, and case law as needed
Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, experts, and third-party vendors
Assist with billing, time entries, and administrative tasks related to case management
Qualification
Required
1+ years of experience as a Family Law Paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm setting
Strong knowledge of family law procedures, court rules, and filing requirements
Experience with discovery, motion drafting, and trial preparation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach
Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and work independently
Proficiency with legal software, Microsoft Office, and electronic filing systems
Preferred
Paralegal certification or degree preferred
