Responsibilities
Plan and implement data migration from legacy storage platforms (mostly Isilon) to strategic storage platforms such as Object Storage and GPFS
Interact with scientific data owners to establish and execute migration or deletion plans
Support scientific data operations, including the lifecycle strategy for data movement and archival
Partner with IT teams managing physical storage platforms and collaborate with data engineers to build integrations that enhance the value and reusability of scientific data
Work closely with data owners and users on Data Lifecycle matters, developing policies and implementing practices that balance infrastructure support with business goals
Define, iterate, and finalize project plans, tasks, and milestones
Exercise sound judgment to address storage-administrator priorities such as capacity limitations, migration windows, external communication, and approvals, while ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery
Perform data analytics to forecast data growth and anticipate future storage capacity requirements
