Legal Operations Associate (Raleigh, NC)

Responsibilities
Support JTI's in-house and outside counsel in the defense and prosecution of litigation, including preparing reports, case lists, case summaries, and court papers. Work with the business and outside counsel to gather and respond to discovery requests. Assist with external counsel invoicing and financial reporting on the litigation, both internally and externally
Support the process for filing all necessary documents to ensure JTI and its U.S. affiliates' compliance with the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement, the Contraband Cigarette Trafficking Act, the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act, fire-safe certifications, new Food & Drug Administration regulations, and other similar agreements or regulatory requirements. Communicate directly with regulators, auditors, and administrative officials to ensure proper, accurate, and timely filing. Ensure all documents meet the necessary form and substance required
Support the preparation of monthly, annual, and periodic reporting to federal, state, and local authorities. Work with JTI's Global Taxation team to file applicable tax returns and assist with compliance with the Indirect Tax Manual
Support the process for JTI entities obtaining, renewing, and terminating licenses, registrations, certifications, etc., necessary for JTI's US entities to conduct business in all 50 States. Assist in filing all documents necessary to ensure JTI's U.S. affiliates are up-to-date on all licenses, registrations, and certifications
Support the maintenance of JTI's corporate governance database and work with external vendors to keep it up to date. Work with lawyers to ensure JTI entities maintain proper registrations, resolutions, consents, annual filings, etc. Support in all corporate secretary-type work and in all other areas of corporate compliance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or 5 years of relevant professional experience
Experience in reporting and analyzing sales data and/or working with licensing applications, registrations, certifications, or similar processes
Fluency in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred
Experience with contract management tools, paralegal or litigation support, and working in a highly regulated industry (e.g., tobacco or other FDA-regulated industries) is a plus
SAP knowledge is a plus
